Beth Birmingham is the Senior Director for Leadership and Staff Development at Compassion International. She’s responsible for leading a team in the strategic design of leadership development and staff development efforts for 4000 employees in 26 countries. Prior to joining Compassion, Dr. Birmingham served as an Associate Professor of Leadership and Change at Eastern University and Chair of the School of Leadership and Development. She shared her teaching load between Eastern’s School of Leadership and Development (SLD) and the Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership program teaching a variety of leadership and organizational behavior topics. She was the creator and founding Director for the M.A. in Organizational Leadership program and the Academic Coordinator for the SLD Africa Programs. She served at Eastern University since 1996 in a variety of positions. Prior to a two year teaching sabbatical in Cape Town, South Africa (2006-2008), she served as the founding Assistant Dean of SLD from 2000 – 2006, and Director of International Partnerships prior to that. Those partnerships included World Vision International, Habitat for Humanity International, Urban Promise International, International Justice Mission, Cornerstone Christian College, among others. Her work has taken her to over 26 countries.
