While adjustments in mailing schedules and efforts to solicit small donors by mail are often easy to make, solicitation plans for an organization’s largest donors (those donors often accounting for 80% or more of dollars raised) are often far more difficult to juggle. In this context it is very important—indeed critical—to have a back up plan or what we define as a solicitation safety net that avoids having a very important ask fall through the cracks.
