Many nonprofits want to boost individual giving. But it can be daunting to know where to start.

Luckily there are only three ways you can boost individual giving at your organization. This video will cover what those three growth levers are, and where you should focus given the needs of your nonprofit.

Once you know what these individual giving growth levers are, it helps your nonprofit primarily in two ways:

1. It brings clarity and focus to how you’re spending your time, which just makes it much more likely you’ll see results.
2. It brings this sense of unity to members of your team or your board.

Our promise is by the end of this video, you’ll have a model that you can use to think about these three different growth levers for individual giving, and you’ll know which of those growth levers makes the most sense for you to start with given your nonprofit’s situation.

The three growth levers for individual giving are:
1. Acquisition (new donors)
2. Retention (existing donors)
3. Maximization (average individual donation)

So where should your nonprofit start? We talk through this in more detail in the video, but generally the roadmap has five stages:

Step 1: Early Donor Acquisition Efforts
Step 2: Unscalable Donor Retention
Step 3: Scaling Donor Acquisition
Step 4: Scaling Donor Retention Efforts
Step 5: Focus on Donation Maximization
