In the business world, how often do you ask, “Is this person that I’m paying an employee or not?” This is probably pretty rare…unless the business is a church. Churches have a lot of people doing very part-time work such as musicians, childcare workers, custodians, bookkeepers, etc. In order to save some money on payroll taxes and some paperwork, they can end up being classified as independent contractors.
