Session 1

Live demo in InDesign with instruction followed by a short Q&A on class topics.

In this class, you’ll learn:

  • How to create an InDesign document from scratch for print and digital projects.
  • What bleed is and when you need it.
  • Setting up a basic grid and recommended margins for different documents.
  • What facing pages are and when you should use them.
  • How to import images and check resolution to make sure they won’t be blurry.
  • Key tools in the tool bar and how to use them.
  • How to navigate and organize the workspace.
Session 2 (optional) Super Q&A
Come back the following day for an in-depth Q&A hour with the opportunity to come on video to discuss your challenges and questions. We’ll have InDesign open to help walk through answers.

Who is this for?
This class is for nonprofit marketers who currently have Adobe InDesign and need help learning to create a document on their own. The instruction will start with the assumption that you have familiarity with the general functionality. This is not a design class. We’ll be teaching how to use the tools of the program rather than the overall concept of what the program does.
